My view on leadership complexity and the intersection of social justice

A simple system: comprises of individual parts that have little to no effect on each other thus represented by individual Dominos that come in a box set. In a simple system, pushing a single domino would cause it to fall (effect). If applied within a society, it would mean using your umbrella (effect) because it’s raining (cause) to a leader fulfilling a certain goal (effect) through taking the necessary steps to achieve said goal (cause).

A complex system: is more than just the individual parts that form it. There are numerous factors that will contribute to the cause-effect relationship which may lead to unpredictable reactions. By pushing one domino (an individual system) this would have an effect on other dominoes that follow.
These dominoes could either react by further pushing the dominoes that follow, they may stop, push back or different chain of events may occur. It’s for this reason that complex systems can’t be simplified because of the various intersecting parts that exist once there’s a complexity. One such complexity that has various intersecting parts is Social Justice.
Applying this concept in a society would mean that some people might not want to use the umbrella (as mentioned above) because it’s raining or might use it because it’s sunny. In terms of leadership complexity, the dominoes may represent the people that a leader’s actions may have an effect on within a society (directly or indirectly). These individuals may react in different ways because they are/form part of a complex system.
By zooming out, one might begin to see individual dominoes form part of a bigger structure that is not necessarily rigid in place and can change just like dominoes can be placed in different patterns. By adapting to these changing structures, one may begin to understand their place within a complex system.
